Hope you're enjoying the spring, I hear it's been a little reluctant to show itself. Here in Costa Rica the house-building project is moving right along. We've started to plan some week-long retreats for next winter. One is a Nia/Sound-healing experience with co-facilitator, Wendy Roman. It'll run from February 10 to 19, 2012. Along with daily Nia sessions in the mountains and on the beaches, there'll be sound massages, chanting, and interesting conversation amongst the rivers and waterfalls that abound here. On March 9 we entered that part of the Mayan Calendar that is often referred to as the Ninth Wave. It will last for 234 days during which we'll experience some very powerful energies. Our article this month will offer a glimpse of what we can expect during this dynamic period. We'll also take a look at yet another enigmatic quality of water and the hope it provides us for the future.

On March 9, 2011 we officially entered the last, the shortest, and no doubt the most compressed and accelerated phase within the Mayan calendar, which is being referred to as the Ninth Wave. During this time we will re-affirm even more strongly that we are human beings and not human doings. We will have the opportunity, ever more powerfully, to absorb information/energy at a cellular level merely by existing. There is no great need to do, to achieve, to plow forward.
According to Mayan Calendar expert, Carl Calleman, the next 234 days will consist of periods of intense higher energy followed by a descending intensity when we'll be able to integrate those higher energies. The Ninth Wave is about creating harmony from what has evolved previously, to let go of old personal agendas and begin manifesting unity consciousness with all that is.
Here is a brief breakdown of how these cycles will unfold:
INITIATION/SEEDING- Light CycleFrom March 9 to March 27This period is an opening for the growth of consciousness.
- Dark CycleFrom March 27 to April 14This is a reaction period, an opportunity to apply the lessons learned in the previous period.
EXPANSIVE PUSH/GERMINATION- Light CycleFrom April 14 till May 2This is a time when new points of view override old ones.
- Dark CycleFrom May 2 to May 20In this period energies stabilize. Polarized factions may come to blows over their differences.
ANCHORING/SPROUTING- Light CycleFrom May 20 to June 7Lies and deception are brought to light and thus progress is not blocked.
- Dark CycleFrom June 7 to June 25Failed systems and establishments are washed away, usually by force.
BALANCE/LEAF FORMATION- Light CycleFrom June 25 to July 13New points of view - new ways of doing things begin to take dominance.
- Dark CycleJuly 13 to July 31This energy begins to harmonize - new procedures are applied. It is a time of rebuilding and healing.
BREAKTHROUGH/BUDDING- Light CycleJuly 31 to Aug 18This will be a very bright period of light/divinity consciousness. Great strides of forward movement will characterize this time.
- Dark CycleAug 18 to Sept 5This is an extremely dark time - a period of great physical hardship and major conflict.
PROTO-HIGHEST EXPRESSION/FLOWERING- Light CycleFrom Sept 5 to Sept 23This will be a period of great enlightenment - great strides. The fog clears and greater clarity is achieved.
- Dark CycleFrom Sept 23 to Oct 11This will be a final period of darkness and density, as the new energy creates a lasting understanding. Throughout history there have been conflicts and revolts during this period.
HIGHEST EXPRESSION/FRUITION- Light CycleFrom Oct 11 to Oct 28This is a time of ascension - climbing to the next level. Wherever you are now, there's a higher level waiting for you and that new level will be very easy to achieve during this period.

On Sunday, April 26, the great Indian spiritual leader, Sathya Sai Baba passed on. Although not that well-known in America, he had a huge presence in the rest of the world where his status was equal to that of the Dalai Lama. Sai Baba is said to have had a following of 6 to 10 million devotees who refer to him as a living saint and avatar. He supports a variety of free educational institutions, hospitals, and other charitable works in over 166 countries. In his ashram in Puthaparti he daily houses and feeds over a thousand devotees without charge. His message of unconditional love is non-denominational and has touched the lives of countless people.
On a personal note, over 20 years ago my partner, Enza, spent a month at Sai Baba's ashram in India. At that time, after 15 years of marriage, we were told that we could not have children. There is a tree near the ashram called 'the wishing tree', where it is said that wishes are granted. Enza went there with her wish and when she returned from India, she immediately became pregnant. Nine months later our daughter Jessie was born. Needless to say, Sai Baba has a special place in our hearts.
