GREETINGS DEAR
FRIENDS
If you've been aware of the ongoing catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf, then you know how huge and important this is. I felt compelled to share my thoughts about this and to see it as a great opportunity. Normally Chant Club breaks for the summer, but this year a group of enthusiastic regulars have convinced me otherwise. Please come and join us on Wed., the 7th. Also, my 5th year hosting a Sacred Sound weekend at Unicamp is happening July 2 thru 4. Last but not least, I'll be participating in a peace concert in Guelph on July 10th. More details below.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I hope to be offering some great week-long retreats in Costa Rica this coming winter, in conjunction with some of my colleagues. We've already received a lot of interest in this idea. We are committed to making these retreats very affordable and joyful, using the beauty of that land to enhance the content of whatever program is being offered. More details will be available in future newsletters.
If you'd like to access past newsletters containing the earlier articles on the
Big Shift, as well as articles on the Physics of Mysticism, Magic, the Power of Mantra and other topics, please

UNDERSTANDING THE SHIFT TROUBLE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO by Dennis Gaumond
The oil spill in the Gulf is probably the worst natural disaster and the most important event we've seen in a long time. Not only is it a huge mess and a metaphor for the challenges we face on this planet, but it is also a huge opportunity.
It is a mess because of the obvious things that have been reported by the media, i.e. the livelihood of fishermen, the ecological consequences, etc. It is also a mess because of what is rarely reported on the news, that this may only be the tip of the iceberg. This could be the start of a much larger catastrophe - huge clouds of toxic gases, possible explosions, the virtual death of the oceans world-wide and more. A search of the internet will result in tons of this type of info. (see links at the end of this article).
Another thing that is poorly reported on in the mainstream media is that this mess, like the financial meltdown, is a direct result of legislation allowing de-regulation - the idea that corporations have the intelligence and responsibility to regulate themselves. No wonder there are protests at G-20 meetings. Our leaders continue to put the 'economy' at the top of their agenda even in the wake of such an enormous catastrophe. Corporate and political leaders ignored warnings from scientists and experts long before this episode came to pass. It is the end result of a string of negligent and irresponsible decisions and probably represents the biggest corporate crime of all times.
One of the things getting a lot of attention these days within the alternative information community is the Hopi prophecies. The Hopi are amongst a huge number of prophecy sources that talk about the end times. They have a list of 9 'first signs' that tell of the coming of the end-times. Here is the 7th of those signs: "You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it." Could this be referring to the gulf disaster? (For more about the Hopi prophecies, see links below.)
The mess in the gulf is a metaphor for the challenge that we all face - to make choices that do not threaten the planet's ability to sustain life, choices that show compassion for our world and its residents. It is not only the oil companies behaving irresponsibly. We must all take responsibility for the choices we make. When we buy something, we vote for it. We need to support the right things and demand change. We need to wake up.
The main thing that I'd like to talk about is the opportunity that this presents. We can remind ourselves that the physical reality of which we are all a part, is only a piece of the whole story. This situation needs to be understood from a 'vibrational' point of view. More important than the consequences of the gulf situation itself, are the consequences of our reaction to it. It is very difficult not to react to it with frothing anger and disgust - I know it has been difficult for me. But a dark room cannot be made light by bringing in more darkness. Alternatively, we could choose to send light into the darkness, we could send love and compassion to those that need it the most.
When the huge tsunami hit a few years back, it was a disaster on the physical level, but on the vibrational level it resulted in a huge outpouring of compassion. It was an opportunity. This recent disaster is a more challenging opportunity. We can choose not only to send light to those who have been most affected by it, but also to those who caused it. It is an opportunity to remember that we are not helpless victims, that we have a huge power at our disposal. Our consciousness itself has power. We can pray, we can meditate, we can send positivity in whatever way. We can raise the vibrations and not lower them. There may be many more calamities headed our way - all will be opportunities to choose love and compassion over fear, anger and disgust.
This gulf situation has inspired many initiatives, many vehicles by which we can send our positive vibrations. Some of them are calls for prayer from right wing organizations, some for meditaions from new age groups, eastern religions and many other groups. Googling will take you to many from which to choose. These links will take you to some of them: ENGAGED BUDDHISM BUDDHIST PEACE FELLOWSHIP LIGHTWORKERS GLOBAL MEDITATION WISDOM

Prophecy of the Hopi Elders:
Here is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid, who will try to hold on to the shore, they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know that the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, and keep our heads above water. And I say see who is there with you and celebrate. At this time in history we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves, for the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves. Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. For we are the ones we have been waiting for.

A WEE POEM
I had a strange dream last night which left me with this strange poem. I thought I'd share it with you.
HURTLING THROUGH SPACE AT AN INCREDIBLE PACE By Dennis Gaumond
I was out walking when someone threw a stone It went whizzing by my ear I decided to catch up to it so I began to run I ran as fast as I could Soon I was abreast of it The stone went faster - I went faster too We were Hurtling through space at an incredible pace
We were going so fast that the landscape began to blur Forms were dissolving, scenes became streaks and smears New forms started taking shape - a new landscape was born After a while it seemed like the stone and I were standing still I forgot that we were Hurtling through space at an incredible pace The stone forgot too
